A: Really depends on what shape its in… Try CarTrader.com. You can put in the price your willing to spend & the model and it will give you cars in the area that are in that range. Fixer uppers shouldnt be that bad, but the remodels can get pretty pricey.

I want to know the estimated cost of refurbishing an 1967 ford mustang from scratch? ex.(body work, new engine, suspension, clutch, new or rebuilt transmission… just to name a few)
A: If you want to do the car right, it’s not going to be cheap at all. If you want to make it a “driver,” you can save a few bucks. If you are looking to restore to show quality, you are looking at the double-digit thousands. Restoring a car is not a cheap venture. I will say, by experience…once you have finished the car and it was done right, you feel proud of it. It’s something that’s difficult to explain. You mostly feel the pride when you get multiple compliments from complete strangers. It’s not something to jump right into. Take your time and make it a true beauty! Q: What are the differences between 1966 and 1967 ford mustang fastbacks?
A: To an inexperienced eye, they look quite a bit alike. But they aren’t.
The 67 Mustangs are about two inches wider and longer to start with. This added room under the hood for big block engines and slightly more interior room. NONE of the body parts are compatible except the windshield. All the interior was changed around and the dash restyled.
Some of the front suspension is different too.
Which one you like better is just a matter of taste, both have their good points. Google up some pictures of both, put them side by side and you can spot many the differences yourself.

i just got one from my grandpa and its a V6. sorry i don’t know the exact year. so i was just wondering what the difference is. and what i could so to gain some more horsepower.. that doesn’t tear up the engine

A: Well it isn’t a v6, it’s a 200 inch inline six with 120 hp. the 289 came in 200, 225 and 271 hp….there was also a 390 offered with 320 hp..
the six comes with some small brakes so any horse power increase should include a brake upgrade..
Some headers and dual glasspacks will help alittle and sound great..if you can, a larger carb and even a high performance cam from Clifford will make it run like a v8..

Top speed for the six with a fresh engine is 90 to 95 mph
and could cruise all day at 80 mph..
the v8’s could do 115 to 120 and the HiPo and and Bigblock could do 125 and 130..

i have an idea of where to get the body but its like $16,000 so maybe if someone could find a cheaper one that would be awesome that all =)

A: Try Ebay or Craigslist, however for 5K you need to be aware that you will likely need to invest several K more in order to get it into a daily driving status. .

A: it can be done but its not cheap !!! the 5 speed trans. is the way to go if you are going to do it.

A: it was just a movie nickname for the 67 Shelby. but actually in the movie they used a custom clone which was later recreated by the market. No real Shelbys were used in the making of the movie or later cars…
Q: 1967 ford mustang total restoration adivce needed need help?
hi i am thinking about buying a 1967 ford mustang for about $600. it does not have engine or tran everything is old and rusty. my quastion is how much will it cost me to make it look like brand new total restoration. My dream is to make it look like the car from gone in 60 sec. can anyone give me a price range on how much it will cost to make it look brand new.
A: Since you are shooting for the “gone in 60 seconds” look, I will assume that the car is a 67 fastback and not a coupe. If the car is in fact a coupe then you can debate buying it or not depending on the extent of the rust issues. If the car is a fastback or a vert then I personally would pick it up for $600. Either way you need to see just how bad the rust is. Are the floors gone? Are the frame rails all rotted out? Shock towers? Cowl? Trunk area? Check out these areas and see if it is surface rust or rotted out. If a lot of it is rotted out then you will have to set aside a lot of money for reproduction panels (or original if you can find some) and repair of these panels. If you are a good welder then you can take care of much of this on your own and save a lot of money.
In regard to other comments, if you plan to restore a vintage mustang to turn around and sell it and make money then cancel your plans right now. If you plan to restore the car (however you like it) and enjoy it and not worry about what the resale value is then welcome to the hobby. I an roughly 6 years into my 65 and a little over $20K. The car appraised at $26K before I was 100% done with it but you don’t even worry about that when you are 6 years deep into building your car and out driving it, nothing else really matters. Actually I lied, you do worry about that but only for insurance purposes incase someone steals it.
Somewhat accurate estimates are pretty tough in this case. A huge chunk of the expense is going to be rust repair in this case. The other large chunk is the drive train. Engine will range from a 200 6 cyl to a 351 stroked to 408. Tranny can be anything from a 3 speed to a 6 speed or an automatic. The rear end could be anywhere from a 8 inch open diff to a 9 inch trac-loc. The point being that there are too many options to give a good estimate. If you research it a little more and get an idea of how bad the rust dammage is (or better yet, pictures), and what you want for a drive train-then we can bounce numbers off of you.

A: At any local Mustang show. Seriously though, ask around at local car shows, check on Craigslist, eBay, Autotrader, local newspapers. They are pretty easy to find and parts are plentiful.
Q: I need to adjust the door on my 1967 Ford Mustang.?
We had to replace the door to my 1967 Mustang and we have to align the door with the rest of the car. Does anyone know how to adjust the door? At the striker plate side, it sits to far in at the top, and sticks out at the bottom. Thank you for any help you might have.
A: Here is the way I do it…
first remove the striker plate from the door jamb, it will only be in the way when adjusting the door. First you make the door align with the fender and quarter panel in height.
Next you align the in and out to fit the fender top and bottom as closely as you can make it.
Now you take a rubber sanding block or something that will hold the door open a few inches without damaging the door or jamb.
Place in between the door and jamb where it is too far in, and give the door a shove on the bottom. Mustang doors are fairly weak and will flex easily without any damage as long as you don’t try to bend it more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
Replace and adjust the striker & it should fit fine.

A: Oh baby!!!
You are dealing with stuff from back in the day! I envy you. Back then there were small blocks and big blocks! If a motor were a small block it would only fit a small block bellhousing and vice versa. So yes if the motor is a small block and I am sure it is it will fit. You may need to make a few modifications but they are minor. Exhaust etc… This is from the day when a starter would fit practically all ford made. Maybe three starters? All had either a two bolt design or three bolt. If you needed a three bolt you merely pulled the two off and put a three bolt end on it! I had a 1981 F100 stepside that had a 300 ci six banger in it. When it died after a second overhaul I found a 67 or 68 289 ci and put in it. All I did to it was changed the little box that was either for a four or six or eight cylinder controller from the six to an eight. I then pulled a distributor from an eighties model 8 cylinder and put in the old 289. then I took a set of motor mount brackets from a junkyard truck and bolted to the back of the cross member and then a little sweat and it was running sweet as honey! Later after I killed the transmission (manual 3 with overdrive) because it could not handle the extra torque I put a c-4 in it. I killed it too and then put in a c-6. Life was good for a while… Old lead foot me I had to rebuild it again and then put in a 351 cleveland… That was a little harder but still doable. Life was good for a mechanic in those days. The Fords were engineered right and proper back then. Now there are probably over 300 starters made for ford vehicles on the road today. Why is a good question.

as of right now the computer is located in the right front door kick panel. need a new place to put it because im gonna put new kick panels in it
A: Not much room under the dash, you might have to put it in the glove box.. or under the passenger seat..
Q: Question about 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe parking brake?
My dad has a 1967 Mustang Coupe. The floor boards have been replaced. He needs to know the exact location where the parking brake equalizer mount is welded to the floor board. There are no listings for this in Chiltons or any of the other books he has. Any suggestions?
